Nicolas Willey Arrested for Theft at Sheldon Store

Sanborn man charged with fifth-degree theft on July 6

SHELDON, Iowa — A 36-year-old Sanborn man, Nicolas James Willey, was arrested around 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, in Sheldon on a charge of fifth-degree theft, according to the Sheldon Police Department.

The arrest followed a report that Willey had taken items from the front register area of the Sheldon Plaza convenience store. The value of the items was estimated to be under $300, qualifying the offense as fifth-degree theft under Iowa law.

Willey appeared in O’Brien County District Court the next day in Primghar, where he pleaded guilty to the charge. The court ordered him to pay a $105 fine, a $15.75 surcharge, and $60 in court costs.

The incident remains on record as a misdemeanor under Iowa law.
