Nicholas Mendoza Arrested in Eudora Following Topeka Robbery
TOPEKA, Kan. – A joint operation between Topeka Police and Eudora Police led to the arrest of Nicholas Mendoza, 36, in connection with a robbery and domestic disturbance that occurred Thursday afternoon in Topeka.
The incident began around 4:40 p.m. when Topeka officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of SW Wanamaker Road for a report of domestic battery and theft. During the investigation, authorities identified Mendoza as the suspect and learned he had a residential address in the 1300 block of Locust Street in Eudora.
Given Mendoza’s violent history with law enforcement, Eudora officers responded immediately, locating his vehicle as it arrived at the residence.
Police say Mendoza left the car running and fled into the house. However, after a brief time inside, he voluntarily exited and surrendered to officers without incident.
He was arrested on charges of robbery, theft, and domestic battery, and booked into the Shawnee County Jail.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
“The Eudora Police Department appreciates the coordination with the Topeka Police Department and is committed to maintaining the safety of our community,” officials said in a statement.
