Raleigh, NC – Police have arrested 28-year-old Nicholas McLeod in connection with two armed bank robberies that occurred Thursday morning in Raleigh and Angier.

McLeod, who was taken into custody in Vance County, faces two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

The first robbery occurred at 10:58 a.m. at the SECU on North Raleigh Street in Angier, where a man entered the bank, handed a note demanding money, and fled north toward Fuquay-Varina.

Just under an hour later, at 11:46 a.m., police responded to another robbery at the Truist Bank on Oberlin Road in Raleigh’s Village District. In that case, the suspect handed a teller a threatening note reading:

“Do not make sound, I have a gun … put all the 50’s and 100’s in an envelope… if you use dye pack will turn around and shoot you.”

McLeod made off with $2,050 in cash from the Truist Bank before fleeing by car.

Authorities were able to track down and arrest him later that day. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.

The Raleigh Police Department and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol worked together to apprehend the suspect.
