York Regional Police have charged a 50-year-old Newmarket man after an investigation into multiple robberies in the area. Authorities say the suspect, Shane Dunn, committed two armed robberies in Newmarket on Saturday.

The first incident occurred at 1:40 a.m. when Dunn entered a convenience store located on Main St. near Davis Dr. He allegedly threatened an employee with a hammer before fleeing with cash and cigarettes. Later that morning, at about 9 a.m., he is said to have entered another store at Davis and Bayview Ave., this time armed with a knife, demanding cash. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either robbery.

Dunn has been charged with three counts of robbery with an offensive weapon. He was also wanted for his involvement in an April 5 robbery where he allegedly targeted a food delivery driver in Newmarket. York Regional Police continue to investigate these incidents.
