NEWFIELD, NJ – A 35-year-old jogger was struck and killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Gloucester County on Sunday morning, prompting criminal charges against a New Jersey man, authorities confirmed.

The victim, identified as Mckeon C. Mckeon-Fish, was jogging southbound along the 300 block of Madison Avenue in Newfield when he was hit from behind at around 8:30 a.m., according to the Franklin Township Police Department, which patrols the area.

Mckeon-Fish was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Authorities identified the driver as Emmanual Anakwah, 36, of Newfield. After briefly stopping, Anakwah fled the scene, police said. He then called authorities around 8:28 a.m. to report that he had been involved in a crash in the same area.

Responding officers later found Anakwah parked on the 300 block of Catawba Avenue in Newfield. He was taken into custody without incident, police confirmed.

Anakwah has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a second-degree crime in New Jersey. He was released pending a future court appearance, according to officials.

The case remains under active investigation by the Franklin Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, which noted that additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
