NEW HOPE, Ky. — A 49-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly leading police on a six-mile high-speed motorcycle chase and being caught with methamphetamine.
Officers from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were enforcing the speed limit on JT Riggs Road when they spotted a motorcycle speeding by. The driver, Frank Edward Livers, allegedly evaded police down Gap Knob Road before pulling into a driveway on Homestead Valley Road in Marion County.
Authorities say Livers reached for his waistband when caught and was tased and arrested. Deputies reportedly recovered 62 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a scale during the investigation.
Livers was charged with multiple offenses, including:
First-degree fleeing or evading police
First-degree wanton endangerment
First-degree meth trafficking (second offense)
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Operating on a suspended license
Disregarding a stop sign
Open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle
Failure to maintain insurance (second offense)
He was lodged in the Nelson County Correctional Center on a $50,000 cash bond and is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
