NEW BERN, NC — A routine traffic stop on Saturday, March 8 led to a major drug bust and the arrest of a New Bern man, according to the Craven County Sheriff’s Office.
Quinn Hughes McDaniel was pulled over while heading eastbound on Highway 70 by deputies from the K9 Bureau and Criminal Patrol Bureau. During the stop, K-9 Tia was deployed and quickly alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
A subsequent search uncovered approximately 18.6 grams of fentanyl, 3.6 grams of methamphetamine, $900 in cash, and items consistent with drug distribution.
McDaniel was arrested on the following charges:
Two counts of Trafficking Fentanyl
Two counts of Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substances
Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling for Controlled Substances
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Due to pending charges from a previous case, McDaniel is currently being held without bond at the Craven County Detention Center.
