A teacher from Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville is facing serious criminal charges after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. William Schaub, 56, was arrested on Thursday, charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated criminal sexual abuse and grooming.
According to Naperville police, Schaub was arrested after being pulled over near his home. The investigation into his actions began following an anonymous tip received by the school on March 7, 2025, which alleged that Schaub had engaged in inappropriate conduct with a female student. The school immediately reported the allegations to local authorities and placed Schaub on administrative leave while the investigation was ongoing.
The Will County Child Advocacy Center worked alongside Naperville police during the investigation, uncovering evidence that Schaub had exchanged inappropriate electronic messages with the student from November 2024 through March 2025. Additionally, police discovered evidence of inappropriate physical contact between Schaub and the student in December 2024.
Schaub, who has been teaching English at Neuqua Valley High School since 2013, is now facing two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse—one classified as a Class 1 felony and another as a Class 2 felony—as well as one count of grooming, a Class 4 felony. His profile has since been removed from the school’s staff directory.
In response to the arrest, Neuqua Valley High School officials expressed their commitment to student safety and announced that services would be made available for any students who may need support. They emphasized that the district is fully cooperating with the police in their investigation.
“The district takes all matters related to student safety seriously and appreciates the collaborative efforts of the Will County Child Advocacy Center, Naperville Police Department, and the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office in this matter,” a district spokesperson stated.
Schaub is currently being held at the Will County Jail. Further details about the case have not been released at this time.
