MONTVILLE, NJ – Nestor E. Jaime, 36, a Pine Brook resident and owner of Fabio’s Pharmacy in Paterson, has been indicted for healthcare fraud in connection with a $2.5 million Medicare scam, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark announced.
Jaime’s arrest was part of a broader law enforcement sweep across New Jersey involving 15 defendants accused of defrauding government and private health insurance programs. The coordinated action was led by U.S. Attorney Alina Habba and is tied to a massive nationwide healthcare fraud investigation.
According to the indictment, Jaime submitted fraudulent claims to Medicare for a high-reimbursement prescription drug that his pharmacy never dispensed and for which it received no legitimate prescriptions. As a result, Medicare paid Fabio’s Pharmacy $2,505,754 in false claims.
“This case is part of an unprecedented effort to crack down on individuals and entities exploiting healthcare systems,” said U.S. Attorney Habba.
The June 30 crackdown charged 324 individuals across the U.S., including 96 licensed medical professionals such as doctors, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists. The combined schemes involved over $14.6 billion in intended losses to Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, and private insurers.
Other New Jersey entities and individuals charged include:
Alan Vaughn, a British national
Taejin Kim of River Vale
Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
Excel Pharmacy (Jersey City)
QuickRx (Elizabeth)
Raghu Ram/Camden Discount Pharmacy
Rachit Drug (Newark)
Premier Dental Holdings (dba Sonrava Health, Element Dental Partners, and Mid-Atlantic Dental Services Holdings)
Federal and state law enforcement agencies across 50 districts and 12 state attorneys general’s offices participated in the historic takedown.
