In a major breakthrough, the Beta-2 police station and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Meerut jointly arrested three individuals involved in a large-scale drug trafficking operation on Thursday. The arrested include Bhaksu Kami alias Bagsur Kami, a Nepalese national, along with Dheeraj Singh Samant and his aunt, Tulsi Devi.
The trio was apprehended at Zero Point on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, where they were found in possession of 5.5 kilos of cannabis, valued at approximately Rs55 lakh in the international market. Along with the cannabis, the police seized three android phones, an Aadhaar card, a Nepalese citizenship certificate, and Rs2,000 in cash.
The gang, led by Bhaksu Kami, smuggled cannabis from Nepal into India, distributing it across several regions, including Delhi, Haryana, Haridwar, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and the NCR. The gang made substantial profits through the retail sale of these narcotics. Tulsi Devi, who was wanted for a previous NDPS Act case in Muzaffarnagar, and Dheeraj Singh Samant played pivotal roles in the distribution of the drugs across India.
Ashok Kumar, the additional deputy commissioner of police in Greater Noida, commended the joint operation that led to the successful bust of this major drug trafficking racket. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the authorities continue to probe the criminal network.
