Accused duo cheated women via matrimonial sites

Police have arrested Neha Sharma, the live-in partner of Sachin Jagtap, who was recently taken into custody for deceiving widows and divorced women through false promises of marriage.

According to Station In-Charge Ashok Patidar, two women—one from Badnagar and another from Nagjhiri, Ujjain—filed complaints alleging that Sachin lured them through matrimonial websites. He promised to marry them and extracted significant amounts of money under false pretenses.

A 34-year-old woman from Badnagar was conned out of approximately Rs12 lakh, while a 40-year-old woman from Nagjhiri lost Rs3.5 lakh and a mobile phone.

Sachin was arrested and remanded to 14-day police custody. During interrogation, police discovered that his live-in partner, Neha Sharma of Pipliyana (Indore), played a complicit role in the fraud.

Neha reportedly contacted the victims after Sachin had duped them, claiming he was her husband and had a pattern of conning women through similar marriage promises. This misleading contact helped the couple continue their scam while covering tracks.

Neha was arrested and presented in court, which sent her to Bherugarh Jail. Authorities are investigating if the duo targeted additional victims through the same modus operandi.
