In a chilling case from Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district, police arrested a woman named Neha and her lover Jitendra for the murder of her husband, Nageshwar Rauniyar. The accused duo attempted to stage the murder as a road accident, but were caught before they could flee to Mumbai.

According to police reports, Neha lured her husband to a remote location, where she and Jitendra intoxicated him with alcohol. Once unconscious, they strangled him and struck him with a weapon. The body was then transported 25 kilometers on a motorcycle, with Neha sitting behind and holding her husband’s corpse, while Jitendra drove the bike with her child in front. The body’s feet reportedly dragged on the road, causing injury marks to simulate a road accident.

They abandoned the body by the roadside near Partawal to mislead investigators, but were soon tracked down using mobile location data and information from the deceased’s father, Keshav Raj, who had filed a missing person’s report after Nageshwar didn’t return home on Friday.

Police stated that Neha and Jitendra confessed during interrogation. Their relationship began while Nageshwar was imprisoned under the NDPS Act, and Neha later decided to separate. Despite pending divorce proceedings, Nageshwar reportedly harassed her with calls and frequently confronted Jitendra, leading to daily altercations.

In her confession, Neha claimed she had endured harassment and was frustrated with the marriage. She said the situation had become unbearable, prompting her and Jitendra to plan the murder.

Police confirmed that both accused are now in custody and further investigation is underway.
