In a significant drug bust on Wednesday, Neha Kumari (32) and her accomplice, Raju Kumar (35), were arrested for smuggling 175kg of ganja in a luxury car in the Bhojpur district. The narcotic, which was being transported from Odisha, is valued at Rs 15 lakh. This case marks the first time a woman has been involved in such a large-scale narcotics operation in the district.
According to Sadar SDPO Parichay Kumar, the police had received a tip-off regarding the smuggling operation. A team led by SHO Ram Kalyan Yadav intercepted the luxury car at Sahar-Tetariya More, under the Udwantnagar police station area, where they discovered the 175kg of ganja hidden in the vehicle.
The smugglers were identified as Neha Kumari, a resident of Kharaini village under Udwantnagar PS, and Raju Kumar, a resident of Balbatra locality under the Ara Town PS. Both were arrested on the spot. Along with the ganja, the police seized two cellphones, a luxury car, and eight different number plates from the suspects’ possession.
During their interrogation, the duo revealed they had brought the ganja from Odisha. A case under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered with the Udwantnagar Police Station.
