A major impersonation scam during the NEET-UG examination has surfaced, with seven individuals — including a doctor and three medical students — arrested across Rajasthan and Bihar. A separate case in Kerala saw a woman detained for fabricating an admit card.
In Jaipur, police busted a cheating racket involving dummy candidates and advanced tech. Acting on intel from the Special Operations Group, a raid at a Karni Vihar apartment led to the arrest of Ajit Kumar and Sohan Lal Chaudhary, postgraduate students at the National Institute of Ayurveda, and Jitendra Sharma, a first-year MBBS student from Karnataka. Authorities seized fake admit cards, AI-modified photos, Bluetooth earpieces, SIM cards, and Rs50,000 cash believed to be part of the payment for the operation.
Later, two more accused — Rohit Gora and Sanjay Chaudhary — were arrested. DCP Amit Kumar said the plot was masterminded by the PG students, motivated by the lure of fast money. Sharma was prepared to impersonate the two candidates in NEET and a paramedical exam.
In Bihar’s Samastipur district, Dr. Ranjit Kumar, posted at Begusarai jail, and Rambabu Malik were arrested. According to Additional SP Sanjay Pandey, they were caught with multiple admit cards and confessed to sending proxies to exams for a fee between Rs2.5 to Rs5 lakh.
Patna police also raided locations tied to a known exam fraudster, Mithilesh Kumar. While he escaped, three suspects were detained.
In Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district, Greeshma, an Akshaya Centre employee, was arrested for forging a NEET admit card. She admitted to receiving Rs1,850 from a student’s mother after failing to submit the exam application on time. When the student requested the admit card, she created a fake one, which was flagged by an exam invigilator due to inconsistencies.
