In a significant narcotics crackdown, the Crime Branch of Indore police arrested two men on Saturday for possession and trafficking of brown sugar. Acting on a tip-off, officers intercepted the suspects near Paper Trade Link in the Polo Ground area after noticing their suspicious behavior.
The accused were identified as 23-year-old Neeraj Goswami from Raj Nagar, who works in the medical supplies market, and 25-year-old Manish Bajaj from Nagin Nagar, employed at a local canteen.
During interrogation, both admitted to purchasing brown sugar at low prices and selling it at higher rates to addicts across Indore. They also confessed to being habitual users of the drug themselves.
Police seized 15.35 grams of brown sugar, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle from the duo. The narcotics are estimated to be worth approximately Rs 2 lakh in the international market.
A case has been registered under Crime Number 129/2025 at the Crime Branch, invoking Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the wider drug network operating in the area.
