On Wednesday, July 23, police arrested three men involved in a fake government job racket. The accused — Neeraj (the alleged mastermind), Satish, and Himanshu — posed as government officers and used forged documents to lure job seekers, police said.
According to Superintendent of Police (City), Shankar Prasad, the trio used fake appointment letters, forged ID cards, and counterfeit job advertisements to make their operation appear legitimate. They even wore fake government uniforms, complete with caps and belts, to deceive victims.
In one confirmed case, Gajendra Singh from Pahasu was tricked into paying Rs15 lakh in exchange for a fake government job. He was given forged documents before the accused disappeared.
Neeraj reportedly posed as a Special Task Force (STF) officer, a tactic that helped win the trust of victims. His impersonation, combined with forged paperwork, made the scam seem authentic.
Authorities believe more victims may be involved and have launched a wider investigation. Police have urged anyone who was defrauded by the group to file a complaint at their local station.
