The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made significant arrests on Saturday, September 27, 2025, targeting suspected drug suppliers linked to terrorist groups in Nigeria’s northeastern states of Borno and Yobe.
Baba Kaka Ibrahim, 26, was arrested in Borno state while attempting to transport 39,380 pills of tramadol 225mg and Exol-5 concealed in the engine compartment of a Mercedes-Benz jeep. Meanwhile, Halima Adamu was apprehended in Yobe state carrying 39 parcels of Colorado—a synthetic cannabis strain—weighing 1.4 kg, hidden in her travel bag. A follow-up raid also led to the arrest of Habiba Muhammad, connected to the consignment.
Additional arrests were made in Kano, Bayelsa, Ekiti, and other states involving large quantities of tramadol, skunk cannabis, and ammunition. Among those arrested was Femi Owoeye, a repeat offender with a prior conviction for drug trafficking.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the operations, emphasizing the agency’s dedication to combating illicit drugs threatening Nigeria’s public health and security. These actions reflect ongoing efforts to disrupt drug networks funding terrorist activities and protect Nigerian youths.
