On September 11, 2024, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jammu successfully seized 3.015 Kg of Charas at NH-44, Sainik Colony, Jammu, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. A case (CR-18/2024) was immediately registered, and two men, Deepak Goyal and Kailash Goyal, both residents of Ajmer, Rajasthan, were arrested.

Initial investigations revealed that the seized Charas had been supplied from Srinagar and was en route to Ajmer, Rajasthan. The drug supply operation was traced back to a woman named Aisha alias Aapa, wife of Md. Yousuf Bhat alias Shabir Bhat, a resident of Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir.

In collaboration with the Anantnag Police, NCB officers arrested Aisha Bhat on Thursday. So far, three arrests have been made in connection with the drug trafficking network.

As the Legislative Assembly elections approach, the NCB has heightened its preparedness to prevent the misuse of drugs in the election process. As the national nodal agency for drug law enforcement, the NCB remains committed to stopping the illegal drug supply in the region.
