In a major anti-drug operation, Mandi district police in Himachal Pradesh have arrested four individuals and seized 17 grams of heroin (chitta) in two separate cases within 24 hours. The arrests were made under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with further investigations ongoing to uncover links to a larger drug network.
According to Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma, the first arrest took place on the night of September 8, 2025. During routine patrolling in the jurisdiction of Aut police station, police stopped Navneet Garg, a resident of Punjab. A search led to the recovery of 14 grams of heroin, and he was immediately taken into custody.
In a second operation, Hatli police recovered 3 grams of heroin from three individuals:
Ranjit Singh
Chander Mohan alias Manu
Rohit alias Rohatu, all residents of Mandi.
All four accused have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are in progress to map the supply chain and determine the origin of the seized contraband.
