Police solved the murder case of 20-year-old Aryan within 24 hours by arresting his cousin, Naveen Kumar, who confessed to the crime driven by business rivalry.
Aryan, a resident of Sehwan village, was fatally shot on Garhshankar-Nangal road on Wednesday night. According to SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, Naveen initially misled investigators with a story claiming that unidentified assailants shot Aryan while they were returning from Ludhiana after shopping for Aryan’s new garment store.
However, inconsistencies in Naveen’s account led police to interrogate him further. He eventually admitted to shooting Aryan, fearing the new shop would negatively impact his own clothing business in Adda Jhungian.
The murder occurred near Shahpur village when Naveen feigned illness, prompting Aryan to stop the car. At that moment, Naveen shot him in the head and chest with a .32-bore pistol.
Police recovered the murder weapon and arrested two accomplices from Mehandwani village who had supplied the firearm. One of them, Gurmukh, was already wanted in a murder case in Una (Himachal Pradesh) and another case under the NDPS Act in Garhshankar.
The case highlights a tragic instance of family betrayal fueled by business jealousy.
