The Delhi Police have dismantled a mobile phone theft and dismantling gang operating from Dev Nagar in Karol Bagh, arresting two key suspects and recovering 43 stolen Apple iPhones and a Samsung Fold, officials confirmed on Friday.
The accused, Navdeep Kaur (26) and Ramandeep Bhangu (33), were part of a larger syndicate involved in buying stolen high-end smartphones, dismantling them, and selling their parts to local repair shops. The operation came to light following the snatching of an iPhone 15, reported at the IP Estate Police Station.
After tracing the stolen device to Karol Bagh, police conducted a raid on Navdeep Kaur’s residence. There, they recovered a stash of 44 smartphones (43 iPhones and one Samsung Fold), along with numerous dismantled components suspected to be from other stolen devices.
During interrogation, Navdeep Kaur admitted to her involvement in the racket and named Ramandeep Bhangu and Sanjeev Kumar as her accomplices. She revealed that the stolen smartphones were received from local thieves, then dismantled for parts and sold in Delhi’s underground electronics market.
A few days later, Ramandeep Bhangu was arrested in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, while allegedly trying to escape to Nepal. He confessed that they purchased stolen phones through contacts in Karol Bagh, and their key buyer network included local mobile repair outlets.
The third suspect, Sanjeev Kumar, is currently absconding, and police have launched efforts to track him down.
