Public outrage erupted in Kushinagar after the daylight murder of 20-year-old Nishant Singh on December 31, leading villagers in the Kasya area to block roads and demand strict action, including police encounters and bulldozer action against the accused.
Police confirmed that both accused, Naushad (23) and Faisal (21), have been arrested in connection with the killing.
According to police reports, Nishant, the son of Santosh Singh and a resident of Amarpur village, was stabbed multiple times near Judwania village around 1 PM while heading to Kasya market to purchase household items. The attackers allegedly struck Nishant in the neck, chest, and abdomen, killing him on the spot. His friend, who tried to intervene, was also assaulted.
The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack. Locals rushed the critically injured Nishant to the district hospital, where he was declared dead.
Kushinagar SP Keshav Kumar stated that the attack stemmed from a personal dispute. Nishant’s close friend was reportedly in a relationship with Naushad’s 19-year-old sister, and a social media post involving her escalated tensions. This conflict ultimately culminated in Nishant being targeted.
Following a complaint lodged by Santosh Singh at Kasya police station, a formal murder case was registered. Senior police officers said swift action led to the arrest of Naushad first, followed by Faisal. Preliminary investigations revealed that both were incited by friends to confront the dispute, and Naushad carried a knife when the confrontation occurred at Kasya market. Finding Nishant alone, he stabbed him multiple times before fleeing.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident as local residents demand justice for the brutal daylight murder.
