FORT EISENHOWER, Ga. (WRDW/Gray News) — Natravien Landy, a 25-year-old Army National Guard soldier, has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a man he found in bed with his ex-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child.

The shooting occurred early Saturday morning at a residence in Fort Eisenhower, Augusta, Georgia. The victim, Sgt. Andre S. Stewart Jr., was shot in the chest and later died at the hospital about an hour after the incident.

Investigators say Landy entered Fort Eisenhower around 4:45 a.m. to report for drill duty and was released at 7 a.m. He then drove to the home of his child’s mother around 7:15 a.m., where he found her and Stewart in bed. According to the woman, Landy was jealous of the relationship and confronted them. She claimed that as she turned away from Landy to talk to him, she heard a gunshot.

Witnesses reported that when Landy arrived, he forced his way into the house after questioning a relative about a truck parked there. One witness described seeing Landy hit Stewart four times with a gun before firing and fleeing the scene.

Landy drove off just before the Fort Eisenhower lockdown was initiated at 7:50 a.m. Authorities used surveillance footage and cellphone data to track him down south of Atlanta. A felony traffic stop was carried out, and Landy allegedly tossed a 9mm handgun out of his car window.

Landy later admitted to the shooting in a court filing. He was transferred to Lincoln County Jail and is facing charges of murder. He is scheduled to appear in federal court on Wednesday.
