CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning along North Shoreline Boulevard.
Nathan Iruegas was taken into custody Monday evening after detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Unit obtained a murder warrant. He was arrested without incident at a home on the 3700 block of Lamont Street and booked into the City Detention Center.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Ryan Lopez, according to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office. Lopez sustained a gunshot wound around 3:10 a.m. Sunday and was found critically injured by responding officers. He was transported to a local hospital but later died from his injuries on Monday, September 15.
Police believe a disturbance occurred prior to the shooting. The investigation involved multiple units including the Criminal Investigation Division, Violent Crimes Unit, and Gang Unit.
Iruegas now faces a murder charge in the death of Lopez.
