Natasha Blackwell Charged in Springfield Homicide

Man fatally stabbed; Blackwell faces murder charges

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — Springfield Police have arrested 44-year-old Natasha P. Blackwell in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man early Saturday morning.

Blackwell, a resident of Springfield, was taken into custody around 10:05 a.m. on September 13. She faces preliminary charges of first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery.

The victim, a 48-year-old man, was found with sharp force injuries in the 400 block of North 4th Street. He was transported by EMS to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:10 a.m., according to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon.

His identity has not been released pending notification of family. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.

Blackwell is currently being held at the Sangamon County Jail while she awaits formal charges from the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The Springfield Police Department and the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident as a homicide.
