CAMBRIDGE, Md. — A 20-year-old man was arrested Thursday after Cambridge police found narcotics during a traffic stop, following an investigation into suspected drug distribution in a local neighborhood.
According to the Cambridge Police Department, Nasir Dewayne Demby was the subject of a search and seizure warrant executed by officers with the Patrol Division, K9 Unit, and P.A.C.E. Unit around 9:55 a.m. on August 21.
The investigation began after residents in the Pine Street and Cross Street area reported ongoing drug activity in July and August. Based on the complaints, police initiated surveillance and developed evidence of suspected distribution.
Demby was stopped by officers while driving in the 700 block of Race Street, where he was allegedly found in possession of controlled dangerous substances.
He was arrested, processed at Cambridge Police Department, and later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he is currently being held without bond.
Demby faces the following charges:
Possession with intent to distribute narcotics
Possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis
Authorities credit the arrest to community involvement and encourage residents to continue reporting suspicious activity.
