NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Nashville woman is facing multiple felony drug charges after a traffic stop led to a major heroin seizure in Nash County.
Brianna Stewart, 23, was arrested Monday following a joint investigation sparked by community complaints about heroin sales in Nash and Edgecombe counties.
Deputies pulled Stewart over on Highway 58 for following another vehicle too closely and having window tint violations. During the stop, a K9 unit from the sheriff’s office alerted deputies to the presence of drugs. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of over 300 dosage units of heroin.
As a result, Stewart was charged with:
Two counts of trafficking heroin
Possession with intent to sell/deliver heroin
Felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Stewart was released from custody after posting a $320,000 secured bond the next day.
Authorities credit public tips for helping to build the case and say the investigation is ongoing.
