Nashik city police have arrested two individuals and recovered 10 stolen motorcycles after a two-day operation, including a repeat offender with a history of criminal activity.
Arrests and Recovery
During a routine vehicle theft investigation, police received a tip-off on Friday about a person trying to sell a stolen bike in Pathardi Phata. Sub-inspector Muktarkhan Pathan and constable Manoj Pardeshi, led by inspector Hemant Todkar, laid a trap and apprehended Santosh Khangal, a native of Chandwad residing in Satpur. He admitted that the bike, worth Rs 80,000, was stolen. Police also recovered eight additional stolen motorcycles from him during interrogation.
On Saturday, the team arrested Rajan Kanojia (22) from Cidco, found with a stolen bike worth Rs 40,000. Kanojia, who stole bikes while Khangal sold them, has six prior theft cases and one attempted murder case.
Authorities noted that similar operations earlier in July recovered 15 stolen motorcycles valued at over Rs 10 lakh.
