Nashik Police have arrested a 27-year-old man and seized mephedrone, valued at over Rs 90,000, from him, an officer reported on Thursday.

Following a tip-off regarding the sale of mephedrone in the Royal Colony garden area of Pakhal Road, the Nashik Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell conducted an operation. On Wednesday evening, they intercepted the suspect, identified as Arbaz Aslam Qureshi. Upon searching him, officers found mephedrone worth Rs 92,500 in his possession.

Mephedrone, a potent stimulant often misused as a party drug, is illegal in India.

Qureshi has been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, according to the official statement.
