A man from Verona, New York was arrested following a domestic dispute that led to the discovery of illegal firearms, authorities report.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded on February 26 to a home in the Town of Verona, NY after a 911 call about a domestic dispute.

Before deputies arrived, the suspect left the residence in a vehicle, which was later located off the roadway. Police learned that an argument over property prompted the suspect to take the victim’s cellphone while they were trying to call 911. The victim used a second phone to call for help, and the suspect reportedly damaged a bedroom door before leaving.

During the investigation, deputies discovered several illegal firearms and ammunition magazines inside the home.

The suspect, Nasear L. Walker, 30, of Verona, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, two counts of criminal mischief, five counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and three counts of criminal possession of a firearm.

Walker was taken to the Oneida County Correctional Facility and appeared in court on February 27. He was remanded on bail but later released after posting it. An order of protection was issued for the victim.
