After nearly 17 months on the run, Narayanlal Kumawat (38), a wanted criminal with a Rs 10,000 bounty, has been arrested by the Bassi police in connection with a major drug trafficking case.

Kumawat, a resident of Rajpura village under Parsoli police station limits in Chittorgarh district, had been evading authorities since March 2023, following the seizure of 6.5 kg of opium from his property.

Despite several attempts by the police to apprehend him, Kumawat remained elusive. Chittorgarh SP Manish Tripathi confirmed that under the guidance of ASP Sarita Singh and DSP Shiv Prakash Tailor, a special operation was launched. The breakthrough came when a team led by Bassi police station officer Manish Vaishnav successfully tracked and arrested Kumawat.

The arrest is a significant step in combating narcotics trafficking in the region, and police are now interrogating the accused to uncover links to wider drug networks.
