TRENTON, N.J. — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly double shooting that took place in New Jersey’s capital on April 19. Authorities say Naquan Green, 37, was taken into custody two weeks after the incident and is now facing first-degree murder charges.
The early morning shooting occurred on the 200 block of East State Street. Officers with the Trenton Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 4 a.m. on April 19 and discovered Marquis Skillman, 39, and a 39-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where Skillman was pronounced dead. The woman survived and was listed in stable condition.
Green was arrested in Ewing on Monday and has been charged with murder and other related crimes. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion to detain him pending trial.
Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the shooting and whether additional charges may be filed.
