NAPLES, FL – A 21-year-old Naples man who claims to be a social media influencer was arrested Thursday in connection with the theft of nearly $6,000 in jewelry from a local condominium.
The suspect, Charles Edward Shookman, was taken into custody by the Naples Police Department following a report from the victim on April 9, stating that three pieces of jewelry had gone missing shortly after a maintenance worker accessed the condo.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Shookman had pawned one of the stolen items at a shop in unincorporated Collier County. Shookman also reportedly told investigators that he is a social media influencer known for showcasing jewelry in his content.
Further inquiry revealed that Shookman was the same maintenance worker recently hired to inspect the property, linking him directly to the scene of the theft.
He now faces charges of:
Grand theft (Naples Police Department)
Dealing in stolen property (Collier County Sheriff’s Office)
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could follow if more items are recovered or victims identified.
