Nandyal SP Suneel Sheoran announced that the police have swiftly solved the Chagalamarri temple theft case within a week, arresting three accused and recovering silver valued at Rs 14.76 lakh. The SP emphasized that the breakthrough underscores the district police’s commitment to safeguarding places of worship and taking strict action against offenders.
The case, registered as Crime No. 109/2025 at Chagalamarri Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), involved the theft of silver ornaments from Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Madduru village. Acting under the directions of the SP and supervision of Allagadda DSP K Pramod, the investigation was carried out by Allagadda Rural CI B.V. Ramana and Chagalamarri SI B Suresh, along with their teams.
SP Sheoran stated that the accused were apprehended on January 4, 2026, near Kashireddy Nayana Ashram, while en route to Kotakandukuru village in Allagadda mandal. The arrested individuals were identified as Mamidi Krishna Kishore (archaka/priest), Bhagavatham Venkata Narsayya (retired executive officer), and Dudekula Pedda Husenayya (gold and silver trader). During the arrest, police recovered approximately 5.8 kilograms of silver bricks and pieces, believed to be stolen temple property.
The SP added that the accused will be presented before the court for judicial custody. He commended the coordinated efforts of the DSP, CI, SI, and their teams for the rapid detection of the case and recovery of the stolen silver. He reaffirmed that Nandyal district police maintain zero tolerance for crimes targeting public faith and religious institutions.
