Devbhumi Dwarka police arrested Nandram Garwal, 30, for allegedly murdering his wife Rekha Garwal, also 30, following a quarrel on Monday night at Sanakhla village in the Bhanvad police jurisdiction.
According to police, the couple, both laborers, were arguing over watering the farm they worked on. During the altercation, Nandram allegedly struck Rekha repeatedly with a spade, causing severe injuries to her head, right eye, and chest. She was rushed to a government hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries.
The FIR was filed by their employer, Pratap Kodiyatar, and a murder case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Preliminary investigation revealed that Rekha was Nandram’s second wife, married for eight to nine months. She had a child from her first marriage who now resides with her parents.
Police have seized the spade used in the assault, and further investigation is underway to examine the circumstances surrounding the murder.
