Nancy Fernandez Luna, a 36-year-old former contractor with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for her role in a human smuggling operation.
Fernandez Luna, from Pharr, Texas, was convicted for using her official government identification and falsified transport manifests to move undocumented immigrants within the United States.
Her scheme came to light in October 2024 when federal authorities arrested her on a bus carrying 39 individuals who were in the country illegally. Investigators discovered she had misused her contractor access and credentials to create the appearance of lawful transportation.
According to court documents, Fernandez Luna’s actions posed a serious threat to national security and exploited her former position of trust with ICE.
She will now serve nearly two years in prison, reinforcing federal efforts to crack down on both illegal immigration and government-related abuses of power.
