In a major breakthrough, police have arrested Namdar Khan (35) for allegedly stealing Rs1.25 crore from a jeweller’s employee while traveling in a passenger bus in Dewas district. The entire stolen amount has been recovered, officials confirmed.

According to Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlod, the arrest was made on Monday with the assistance of local police in Dhar district.

The incident occurred on October 17, when Khan and an accomplice stole a bag containing Rs1.25 crore in cash. The money had been sent by Chhatarpur-based jeweller Ashish Gupta through his employee, Nitesh Kumar Sen, to Indore for purchasing gold and silver ahead of the Diwali season.

The theft took place when the bus stopped at a restaurant in Sonkatch, Dewas. Taking advantage of the halt, the accused allegedly fled with the bag in a waiting car. Police are now searching for Khan’s accomplice as the investigation continues.
