In a significant crackdown, the Telangana CID has arrested two individuals involved in a fake Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) bill scam in Doctors Colony, Nalgonda. The arrests followed complaints from the Revenue Department regarding discrepancies in CMRF applications submitted by various hospitals across Telangana.
On August 23, these complaints led to the registration of six cases, prompting an investigation into the fraudulent activities. The investigation revealed that Gotti Giri, a medical practitioner at Chanikya Hospital, and Leki Reddy Saidi Reddy, a supervisor at Naveena Multi Specialty Hospital in Miryalguda, were central to the scam.
The duo created fake CMRF bills using fraudulent documents and desktop computers, charging individuals Rs. 4,000 per application to facilitate these bogus claims. They fabricated rubber stamps of doctors and hospitals using local printing shops, submitting 19 fake applications under the names of Amma Hospital and Naveena Multi Specialty Hospital.
Police have seized a computer hard disk containing soft copies of the fake medical bills, along with rubber stamps and letterheads of the alleged hospitals. The accused were presented before the Court of Judicial First Class Magistrate (Special Mobile) at Nalgonda for judicial remand.
