BRIDGTON, Maine (WGME) — A traffic stop involving a handwritten license plate led to the arrest of two women and the discovery of multiple illegal drugs in Bridgton early Tuesday morning.

At around 12:40 a.m., officers attempted to stop a Subaru Outback traveling with a fake, handwritten license plate. The driver initially refused to pull over, but eventually complied after about a mile on Willis Park Road.

Upon searching the vehicle, police uncovered approximately 4 grams of fentanyl, 15.5 grams of methamphetamine, 14 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, cash, and other items linked to drug trafficking.

The suspects were identified as 35-year-old Naiomi Viereck and 44-year-old Linda Pepin. Viereck was charged with trafficking in scheduled drugs, refusing to submit to arrest, and providing a false name. Pepin was arrested on an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant.

Both women were transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
