As part of its intensified anti-drug campaign, Operation Dawn, the Naharlagun Police have apprehended four individuals, including a husband-wife duo, in two separate cases over the past few days. Significant quantities of suspected heroin were seized during the operations in Naharlagun and Nirjuli.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo revealed that the police team, led by Sub Inspector Sunny Hodong, intercepted a husband-wife duo, Jomdam Ligu (32) and Kano Marde (24), after receiving a tip-off about drug peddling in Prem Nagar, Naharlagun, on Saturday. During searches of their person and residence, 5.6 grams of suspected heroin were recovered.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Peter Kamdak (19) in Itanagar, where an additional 4 grams of suspected heroin was seized from his home.

Meanwhile, in Nirjuli, police conducted a raid on Thursday at the residence of Dugi Bijoy (26), under the supervision of Inspector TM Nekam. While the accused initially fled, police seized 8.48 grams of suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia, and Rs 15,900 in cash from his residence. Bijoy was later arrested on Saturday and presented before the Special Judge (NDPS) at Yupia.

The operations were carried out under the command of Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo and the active supervision of the SP. These arrests form part of the continuing effort to curb drug trafficking and illegal narcotics activities in the region.
