On Sunday, a drug addict, was arrested by the Naharlagun police near the Kankar Nallah Bridge. The operation, led by Officer-in-Charge K Dev from the Naharlagun Police Station, was carried out under the supervision of Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo and SDPO Rishi Longdo. According to a senior police official, the arrest occurred after the addict revealed the source of the drugs during interrogation.
This information led to a police raid in Lower Model Village, where two drug peddlers, 30-year-old Techi Lez from Lekhi and 28-year-old Tana Jamja from Doimukh, were arrested.
During the raid, overseen by Executive Magistrate Khoda Bath, the police discovered and seized 16 vials of heroin weighing 20.9 grams, 11 empty vials, packaging materials, and Rs 7,060, believed to be proceeds from drug sales. The items were seized under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
A case has been registered at the Naharlagun Police Station, and both peddlers have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
