In a significant bust, the Education Department and Nagpur Police have apprehended three teachers involved in a Rs25 lakh Shalarth ID scam. The accused — Sujata Yewatkar from Hingna taluka, Aarati Gavande from Umred taluka, and Rohit Kumar Agrawal from Kamptee taluka — allegedly secured government teaching jobs through bribes and submitted forged documents.

Using fake Shalarth IDs, these teachers received government salaries for 22 months between August 2023 and June 2025, despite not being legitimately appointed. A thorough verification process via the online Shalarth system uncovered their fraudulent activities.

The trio manipulated appointment letters and altered Shalarth records to appear as legitimate employees. The Shalarth system, which manages online teacher salary disbursements, was exploited to process these payments undetected.

Following the discovery, the Education Department filed a formal complaint, leading to arrests under charges of cheating, forgery, and misuse of government records. Authorities suspect more individuals might be involved and have vowed strict monitoring to prevent future fraud in the education sector.
