In a shocking case of familial betrayal, a 52-year-old man allegedly orchestrated a violent robbery at his elderly parents’ home in Parseoni, Nagpur, over a property dispute.

The incident occurred on December 13, when unknown assailants broke into the residence of 79-year-old Abdul Ghaffar Abdul Karim at Gandhi Chowk. The intruders assaulted the elderly couple, stole a 10-gram gold chain worth Rs50,000 from the wife, and looted around Rs1,000 cash from an iron cupboard before fleeing on a motorcycle.

A case was registered under Sections 309(6) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, corresponding to robbery provisions.

Swift action by the Nagpur Rural Crime Branch, with assistance from Parseoni police, led to the arrest of seven suspects within 12 hours, solving two crimes. The prime suspect, Mangesh Uike (26), was detained based on technical evidence and informant tips.

Interrogation revealed the alleged mastermind: Abdul Matin Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh, the complainant’s son, who reportedly held a grudge over property division. The other arrested individuals include Tanveer Yunus Qureshi, Praveen Mahikarkar (28), Kamlesh alias Chotto Pandhanam (21), Akshay Bansod (22), and Aditya Sharma (21).

Investigations also linked the group to a previous robbery in 2024, in which Rs40,000 was looted from the same house.

Recovered items from the accused include Rs9,500 cash, two motorcycles worth Rs1 lakh collectively, two smartphones, and a basic mobile phone, totaling approximately Rs1.55 lakh in value. The accused have been remanded in custody, and further investigation into the theft continues.
