In a proactive operation, Nagpur Rural Police arrested Mangesh Gopal Bhondge (34), a labourer from Meta Umri, Hingna taluka, in connection with the possession of MD powder.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Bori Police Station conducted patrolling in the Sai Layout area near Borkhedi Gate. Officers spotted a suspicious car parked near a railway culvert. While the driver fled upon noticing the police team, Bhondge, who was standing nearby, was apprehended.
During a search, police recovered 52.3 grams of MD powder, valued at approximately Rs2.6 lakh, from his possession. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigations are underway to trace the supplier and any wider network involved.
Officials highlighted the operation as part of Nagpur Rural Police’s proactive efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
