Nagpur Police Arrest Nazeem Afzal Mirza with Drugs Worth Rs1.3 Lakh

Anti-Narcotics Branch seizes Mephedrone powder, mobile phone.

In a late-night operation, the Anti-Narcotics Branch of Nagpur Police arrested 28-year-old Nazeem Afzal Mirza, a resident of Mominabad Colony, Mangal Murti Layout, Pandharkawda, Yavatmal district, for possessing illicit drugs. The arrest occurred between 11:15 PM on October 21 and 1:25 AM on October 22 near Mokhare College Road, within the jurisdiction of Rana Pratap Nagar police station.

During a routine patrol, officers spotted a suspicious individual loitering near Ashok Thakre’s residence. Upon questioning, the man, later identified as Mirza, admitted to carrying illegal substances. A search revealed 12 grams of Mephedrone (MD) powder hidden in a plastic press-lock bag in his jeans pocket. The seized drugs were valued at Rs1,20,000, along with a mobile phone, raising the total value of the recovered items to Rs1,30,000.

Mirza has been charged under sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act, and he was arrested on the spot. The case is under further investigation by the Rana Pratap Nagar Police.

This operation was overseen by Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makinikar. The Anti-Narcotics team, led by Inspector Ravindra Naikwad and Sub-Inspector Manoj Ghurde, executed the successful raid with support from officers Pawar Gajbhiye, Vijay Yadav, Vivek Adau, Anup Yadav, Arvind Gedekar, Rohit Kale, Sahadev Chikhale, and Raju Patil.
