A shocking domestic crime unfolded in Bengaluru on Wednesday after a 65-year-old retired ISRO employee, Nageshwar Rao, allegedly murdered his wife, Sandya Sri, inside their apartment. The incident was reported around 11 am within the limits of Avalahalli police station.
According to police, Rao allegedly strangled his wife using a towel at their Bommehalli residence. The crime occurred behind closed doors, and Rao remained in the apartment with the body before contacting an acquaintance, which alerted authorities. Officers rushed to the scene, confirmed Sandya Sri’s death, and took Rao into custody.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Rao was undergoing treatment for depression and was under severe mental stress. Police indicated that he had allegedly planned to end his own life following the act. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield) Saidulu Adavath stated, “At present, there is no evidence of any external involvement. The act appears to have been committed under extreme mental distress.”
The couple’s daughter is currently being supported by relatives as police continue their investigation. Authorities are examining the circumstances in detail to determine the precise sequence of events leading to this tragedy.
