A 27-year-old man, N Kamalesh, has been arrested for murdering his co-worker R Ravindra Babu near Lalgudi in Trichy district on Monday night. The two had previously worked together as loadmen at a government paddy procurement centre, where a money dispute sparked their enmity.
Their rivalry escalated during Diwali when a quarrel over bursting crackers led to a violent confrontation, after which police filed a case against Ravindra’s brother. On Monday, Kamalesh allegedly attacked Ravindra Babu with a sharp hook near Keelamanakkal railway crossing, killing him on the spot.
Lalgudi police registered a murder case, sent the body for autopsy at Trichy government hospital, and remanded Kamalesh to Trichy Central Prison.
