The Mysuru City Crime Branch (CCB), in coordination with Mandi Police, conducted a major anti-narcotics operation, arresting five individuals linked to drug peddling across the city. The crackdown is part of an ongoing mission to make Mysuru a drug-free city.
In three separate cases, the police arrested:
Mohammed Kareem and Nishad Pasha, both habitual offenders with multiple previous NDPS cases, from whom 3.14 grams of MDMA were seized.
Sanjay and Rajkumar, with 585 grams of ganja recovered along with a TVS bike used to transport narcotics.
Mohammed Afaaq, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, apprehended for his alleged role in the city’s drug network.
Senior officials highlighted that these operations follow large-scale raids in Karnataka and Maharashtra, where significant drug consignments were seized. Mysuru police have intensified surveillance, especially around colleges, hostels, and student-heavy areas, emphasizing strict legal action against drug-related activities.
As part of preventive measures, the police launched the ‘Vimukti’ helpline (8277948080) to encourage public reporting of drug sales, usage, or transportation, assuring confidentiality for informants.
The anti-drug drive is part of a broader state-wide initiative. Bengaluru police recently seized synthetic drugs worth lakhs within 24 hours, while in coastal districts like Mangaluru, raids targeted hostels and student accommodations. In border districts like Belagavi, joint operations with Maharashtra authorities aim to curb inter-state trafficking.
Mysuru officials urged parents, educational institutions, and the public to cooperate in fighting drugs, stressing that coordinated enforcement and awareness efforts can help the city emerge as a model in the war against narcotics.
