Mylen Simmons Charged in KC Armed Robbery, Chase

Crashes during chase, faces multiple felony counts

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) — A Kansas City man is behind bars following an armed robbery and high-speed police chase that ended in a violent crash into a utility pole.

Mylen M. Simmons, 43, has been charged with multiple felonies stemming from a robbery incident on Sunday, July 14, according to Jackson County Circuit Court records.

Robbery and Chase
According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), two suspects confronted a man who was parking his car. One choked the victim and stole his bag through the window, while Simmons allegedly threatened him with a gun.

Later that day, police located a gray Chrysler 300 linked to the robbery. When officers tried to stop it, Simmons allegedly sped away, initiating a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed into a pole.

After the crash, Simmons fled on foot but was quickly arrested. Officers discovered the Chrysler was reported stolen on July 3, and the firearm used in the robbery was also recovered.

Criminal History and Charges
Simmons, a convicted felon since 1998, is legally barred from possessing firearms. He also had multiple active warrants at the time of his arrest.

He is currently being held on a $75,000 bond for the new charges, with additional bonds totaling $70,000 for previous warrants in Jackson and Clay Counties.

The second suspect remains unidentified, and no court date has been set as of July 16.
