Police in Muzaffarnagar have solved the murder of 45-year-old Mamta Sharma, a local domestic help, whose body was discovered on the bank of a canal in Khatauli earlier this week. Authorities arrested her lover, Sandeep Kumar, in connection with the crime.
SSP Sanjay Kumar reported that Mamta and Sandeep were involved in a romantic relationship, but often argued over her alleged ties with other men and repeated demands for money.
During interrogation, Sandeep admitted to smothering Mamta to death on Tuesday night. The post-mortem report confirmed the cause of death. Police seized the victim’s purse and the handcart used to transport her body.
Sandeep Kumar has been formally charged with murder and sent to jail. The case highlights the dangers of unresolved domestic disputes escalating into fatal violence.
